GE, BHEL ink 10-year deal for manufacturing compressors
State-run Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has inked a ten-year licensing agreement with a unit of GE to manufacture oil and gas compressors in its facility.
The compressors--to be manufactured at BHEL’s Hyderabad facility--will be sold in India and other South Asian countries.
The manufacturing agreement is signed with GE oil and gas Italian entity, named Nuovo Pignone.
‘This licensing agreement is an endorsement of our existing partnership with GE and of BHEL’s own world-class engineering capabilities. I’m confident that together we can support customers in India, with the outstanding compression technology that is synonymous with GE Oil and Gas and which these markets require for continued industrial growth,’ BHEL CMD B P Rao said in a statement.
GE India President and CEO John Flannery said, ‘This agreement builds on our strategy of bringing world-class technology to the Indian marketplace. It strengthens GE’s company to country approach by creating growth opportunities and developing local skills and expertise.’ The compressor units are used in various infrastructure projects including oil and gas production and transportation, refinery and petrochemical industry applications, and fuel gas boosting.
